It's about time

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know it's been a while. I've been busy--which means that there are lots of pictures and updates to share with you. But, I have to admit, I've been lazy and unmotivated too. At least when it comes to updating my facebook and blog. So bear with me while I bring you up to speed.

After we found out that Matt is called to be a pastor in Michigan, the moving mindset began setting in. We had a few different moving companies come by our apartment and give us estimates for moving our stuff. And slowly, but surely we've been working out the details for our upcoming move. But there was/is a lot to do before we can call ourselves Michiganders!

First, Matt had to actually finish classes at the sem. Which he did--with flying colors. We sat through a rain-free (but by no means dry) commencement service. Congratulations, Matt! I'm so proud of you. Here's a special shout-out to this year's recipient of the Victor C. Rickman award. I call it the seminarian all star award. Matt, you are awesome!

After Matt's graduation we celebrated a few more graduations, as both of our sisters graduated from high school this year. Unfortunately they graduated the same weekend, so we had to split up for the occasions; Matt went to Green Bay for Becca's graduation and I went down to Red Bud for Lora's. Another shout-out to Tindall Valedictorian #3. Way to go Lora!

While Matt was up north, he made his way over to Michigan to meet some of the staff at our new church and scope out some potential housing. He enjoyed the scenic views driving through the Upper Peninsula.
He also enjoyed getting to know our new congregation and seeing where his office will be.

And while Matt was away I decided to join my mom, sister, aunt, cousin, and several other family and friends in the MS Challenge Walk. 3 days. 50 miles. Closer to a cure. (Note to self: training for only 2 weeks is not enough for a 50 mile walk!) But I made it! All 50 miles. I only got 3 small blisters, but I did develop a little posterior tibial tendinitis. (Thanks Uncle Brian for the diagnosis!) After some ice and a bit of rest (i.e. not trying to walk 20 miles in 1 day...) my foot is feeling much better! I enjoyed the weekend so much that I signed up for it again next year. Hopefully I can make it back here from Michigan.

We also took some time to celebrate Matt's graduation and had a bit of a going away party so we could visit with all of my family in Red Bud. Even though the storm clouds rolled in and the thunder boomed, we stayed dry and sweat-ed out the afternoon in the park. It was especially nice to have all of our godchildren there!

Just last weekend we made a trip up to Wisconsin for a wedding and Matt's ordination. The wedding was for my college roommate, Cheryl. It was great to see friends from college that we hadn't seen in four years. Good times! After the wedding we headed up to Green Bay for ordination. So it's official now, Pastor Matt. Or should I say Pastor Baye? Whichever you decide to go by... Matt's Uncle Tim preached at the service and his friend Matt Makela was in town to do the readings. Such a beautiful service, poignant message, and joyful celebration.

Things for the rest of our summer continue to be busy and crazy. I hired my replacement at work and did her training this week. I work for 2 more weeks before I'm done. Matt's done with his summer classes on July 2nd. We are headed up to WI to celebrate the 4th of July with Shana and Kyle (bring on the yucca!), and we will be travelling to Omaha, NE for Peter and Charista's wedding on the 16th. Our official move date is July 20th. Hopefully I'll be able to post about these things soon. But don't be surprised if there isn't another post for a while. I've got lots of packing and then unpacking to do in the weeks ahead.
