It just wasn't the same this year...

Unlike last year, we could spend Easter with family! One of the benefits of living 45 miles away rather than 2,000 miles...

Unfortunately, my family is at that awkward stage where the kids are growing up and it's not as easy to get together with aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents all at the same time. We are branching out and competing with in-laws for family time. So this year for Easter we went to the Tindalls, but it was just us and the parents and Aunt Margaret. The Jacobs were in Michigan. The Palmers, who were supposed to join us, stayed home because Lani got sick. Even Lora had Easter plans elsewhere with her new beau.

There were no eggs decorated or hidden for finding. There was no ham. No finding Easter baskets. We didn't even get up for sun rise service this year. So very different from Easter celebrations of years before. But the joy that is ours during this season is the same. Praise be to Jesus who is the same yesterday, today, and forever; whose promises we can be sure of even amid the changes and challenges of this life.
