Loose ends

We've been busy lately... so I'm cramming all these updates into one post.

Babies:

No, not ours! Some of our seminary friends are expecting (any day now ladies!) and we are so excited to meet Baby Finn and Baby Roo.

King's Camp:

During part of Labor Day weekend Megan went with her parents and Lora to crash the Jacob's annual camping trip. Shana missed her family, and it was good to spend some time with her. Although we stayed in a hotel (no tent and a dad with a ruptured disk and upcoming knee surgery required comfy accommodations...) we were able to enjoy the great outdoors.

Alhambra Nursing Home:
On our way back from King's Camp we stopped in at the nursing home that Grandpa Tindall is currently staying at. Megan hadn't seen her grandpa in almost three years and could barely recognize him. His health has taken a turn for the worse over the last few months when he went from living on his own to being diagnosed with early Alzheimer's/dementia and living in a nursing home. It was hard to see him so unhappy and even stranger to not hear him joking around or offering a piece of gum or peppermint candy.

Remodeling:

On Labor Day there was LABOR. We finished ripping out the old carpet in the Tindall's family room and prepared to lay the last of the hard wood flooring. We also painted the ceiling and walls to match the rest of the new paint on first floor. It was also Dad's birthday. Double nickles! Happy 55th birthday Dad! After the work was done we celebrated with a pork steak dinner and some good red wine. Yum!

Job:

Megan FINALLY has some employment. It's not exactly ideal or permanent, but after the school year started and all hope for any teaching position had vanished Megan started applying to clerical/administrative jobs, temp agencies, and even websites for nannies and babysitters. Well, as of September 8th Megan is a nanny. She works for a single-parent family (her husband passed away five years ago) with two kids--a fourteen-year-old boy with autism and a ten-year-old girl. Thank you to all who were praying for us in this job-seeking endeavor.

School:

Matt started classes for his fourth year at the seminary on September 8th. It was tough to get back into the routine of going to classes and doing homework--especially trying to balance all the reading assignments. And it probably doesn't help that Matt is taking a very full load of 15 credits--including classes with Dr. Lessing, Dr. Weise, and Dr. Biermann. But Matt is glad to be back at the sem and excited to be playing intramurals again.
