Megan is picking up more work lately. She has four new students that she tutors at MCS and has been subbing more frequently too.
Matt is enjoying preaching. January's sermon series was on "It." (Inspired by the book "It: How Churches and Leaders Can Get It and Keep It"--by Craig Groeschel.) And although preaching from a series can be more difficult than preaching from the lectionary, Matt has repeatedly been commended for his efforts.
We were able to spend a full day in San Francisco with the Knitters, a family from church. We saw the historic Fort Point, right under the Golden Gate Bridge.

We drove down the zig-zag stretch of Lombard Street. They showed us around China Town--wow, what an experience! The sights and smells are something you just have to experience to understand. We ate at a Dim Sum place for lunch--the entire menu was in Chinese and they only spoke Cantonese. Thankfully the Knitters ordered for us! And it was delicious.
They also took us down an alley to the only place that makes fresh fortune cookies. The chocolate fortune cookies were so good!
We also hiked up and down some hills in The City and journeyed up to Coit Tower for some breath-taking views. (After the climb up the hill we needed to catch our breath!)
We also caught a boat out to Alcatraz and experienced the audio tour of the famous prison. We had gorgeous 70+ degree weather (in JANUARY!!) to enjoy our day.

Matt chaperoned the church youth group's winter retreat. Three and a half days in the Sierra Nevadas with 5 feet of snow and 50 degree weather. And aside from the scrape on his arm after he lost the battle with an icy stretch of pavement, Matt had a good time bonding with the kids.
We also went to a marriage seminar the last weekend in January--"Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage" by Mark Gungor (a pastor out of Green Bay!). It was great! Very enlightening and hilarious too.
